Prop for reducing the noize.....

Postby jengoe on Thu Jul 24, 2008 2:53 pm

Paul,

Thanks for the assistance in getting my WOT trainer throught the dB test, but cannot remember the suggested prop dimension / pitch.

Please can you remind me which size I should use to reduce the noise further.

Also who could help me "tune" the engine as I know nothing about this side of things.

Many thanks to Sharon for the pack by the way....

Hi Jon,

I would first try an APC 12/7, or possibly even a 13/6 to load that engine.

More than happy to help tune up the engine and retest etc. but I'm afraid due to work / show / holiday commitments I shan't be at the field again now until after the eastnor castle show.

(although there is a slight possibility that I may get there next wednesday evening)

there are many who will be at the field regularly however who would be more than happy to help, just remember get the top end tuned first BEFORE attempting to adjust the bottom end, and get it properly tuned before noise testing again, then use the throttle ATV if necessary to reduce throttle to an ecceptable noise level. should still fly very well as the engine you have is well over powered for that airframe.

Cheers

Paul.

Thanks for the reply and I will change the prop as necessary to make her more of an environmentally acceptable beast.

Mike at Membury tuned the engine and kindly flew me on buddy box for 2 flights last weekend and I was so impressed that I can fly (thanx to the simulator hours and Lucas !!!). He let me get into trouble and let me also do the recovery without interfering unless I was about to hit the deck !!!.

Cheers for your time and will be back on a Wed soon...

TTFN

Jon

PS; Hope Sharon's back is better.
