Help with Set Up

Postby Vince on Thu Sep 11, 2008 7:15 am

Hi

Have completed my first build ( only started it Jan this year !! ).

I have not yet run the engine and am wondering if anyone would be able to give me some help/time if I bought the plane along to Stanmore this Saturday as the current forecast does not include rain !!!

Thanks
Vince

Vince
This Saturday I am not around to help, hopefully there will be someone at Stanmore.
First time you run the engine make sure it is a very Rich mixture, this keeps the engine cooler and you have more oil flowing around to lubricate. I would recommend running the engine a couple of times before flying and even then keeping a richer setting.
After the first flight Check all bolts and screws.
Good luck

This Saturday 27th the weather looks good, I should be down at the field around 12ish. If you can make it I will be able to help, maybe fly the model?

Hi

Thanks for the offer, I will certainly try to make it.

I have just bought a more suitable size prop but have no means to balance it. Is this important ? It is an APC 10 x 7.

Hi Chris

I am having problems with my Tx and found yesterday it was not working at all - I think i may have been overcharging the battery - looking to get it looked at this week.

Hope you had a great day yesterday - will post here again when i'm sorted.

Hi Vince
Sorry for the late reply, unless you left your battery on charge for a Long time I sure you could not of damaged them, but hopefully it is the battery that failed and not the transmitter as thats the cheaper part! £10?
Chris
Should be flying this Saturday :D 9th as the weather looks flyable!!!
Also we have a new training co ordinator Cenk Tugcetin, if he has not contacted you already, get in touch as we are trying to set up a closer link between instructors and students.

Chris

Thanks for that, as you saw yesterday, problem sorted.

Many thanks to Graham & Cenk for your help yesterday, It was fantastic to see my plane in the sky at last and even better to have taken it home in one piece.

Hope to be back very soon.

Regards

Hi Vince
I should be up between 11.00 and 12.00 and there will probabley be a couple of other guys wanting training but we should get you all up for at least 2 flights each, more if more instructures turn up. Looks as if it will be a bit windy but still flyable.
